Temporary rules for online casino extended

In New Zealand, we have had temporary rules for online casinos since 2020. Now the government announces the extension of these rules until november 14, 2021.

Extending temporary rules until november 14

Due to covid-19, The New Zealand government chose to introduce temporary rules for gambling at online casinos with a New Zealand license. Rules that came into force on July 2, 2020.

These temporary rules have once been extended and now it's time again. The government announces that it is extending the rules until november 14, 2021.

"We see that the spread of covid-19 remains high in New Zealand. The current situation poses great risks for consumers in the gambling market. We therefore need to act to reduce the risks for the most vulnerable consumers, " said Minister of Social Security Ardalan Shekarabi in the press release released by the Government Office on its website.
